Surrounded by mountains and an abundancy of lakes, Kamloops has a vibrant outdoors scene. Top recreational activities include freshwater fishing and mountain biking, with tens of kilometers of trails in the region. The valley is also known for its production of wine and the accompanying Kamloops Wine Trail that takes visitors through some of the most popular wineries. The city is also home to the British Columbia Wildlife Park, a zoo that holds and conserves dozens of species from across the province and Canada as a whole.
Whistler
A renowned winter sports destination, millions flock to the slopes of Whistler for world-class skiing and snowboarding during the colder months. The continent’s largest ski resort, Whistler Blackcomb, also hosts outdoors adventurers all throughout the year. To get there, visitors can soak up snowcapped-mountain vibes on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, a journey through the clouds between Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain. Whistler was also a primary host of events during the 2010 Winter Olympics, and the effect of the games can still be felt in the area today.
